THE GIST: Donald has tweeted a lot of inane, racist and unhinged things—but this one is the rhetorical equivalent of shooting someone on 5th Avenue. Complicity comes with a cost.

Just when we thought he reached the lowest point possible, Trump grabbed a shovel.

Donald has tweeted a lot of inane, racist and lunatic things before, but this one is the rhetorical equivalent of shooting someone on 5th Avenue. I will not repost the tweets here because I don’t want to give them oxygen.

Trump railed against Morning Joe co-presenter Mika Brzezinski, claiming she was lobbying hard to hang with him and knock a few back at his Florida property (aka Donnie Darko’s safe space). He tweeted that Mika was “at Mar-a-Lago 3 nights in a row around New Year’s Eve and insisted on joining me. She was bleeding badly from a face-lift. I said no!”

Stop enabling him. Confront this, and confront this hard. — Ana Navarro

Does it really matter that his claim is false, disproven from pictures? Donald apparently has an unhealthy obsession with blood: Remember his disgusting “blood coming out of her… wherever” comment about Megyn Kelly, then-Fox News presenter?

Notable denunciations

Nicolle Wallace is not my first source of news, but the above clip encapsulates my objections to Trump from the start. “The party will be permanently associated with misogyny if leaders don’t stand up a demand a retraction.” This is the perfect statement made about 18 months too late.

Take this reaction from GOP strategist and noted anti-trump TV commentator Ana Navarro, who called Orangina Thinskin a “man baby.”

In an interview with Wolf Blitzer, Navarro called out her own party for its largely tepid reaction. “I’ll say this to the GOP: It’s time that somebody calls him up and says, ‘Listen, you crazy, lunatic 70-year-old man-baby: stop it. You are now the president of the United States, the commander in chief, and you need to stop acting like a mean girl, because we just won’t take it.'”

Trumpkin loyalists who are enabling this disgusting and dangerous tyrant so they can push through their radical agenda: complicity will come at a cost. Strong condemnation from reasoned republicans gives me hope—but GOP lawmakers are still just “concerned.”

Navarro continued: “We have a president who is nasty. We have a president who is immature, unstable and just acts like a crazy person to anybody who attacks him because he has got thin skin. Anybody around him, whether it’s his daughter, his chief of staff, his wife—who I remind you had said her signature issue was going to be fighting online bullying—or any Republican on the Hill, stop enabling him. Confront this, and confront this hard.”

Good luck with that. So far, they are not only in lock step—they’re silent in the face of his rantings.  🔵
