BREAKING UPDATE (28 December 2021): Navarro is out with his own shithole book, In Tr_mp Time, which is about as bonkers as you might expect from a dude relentlessly normalized by our nation’s news media. (Just the title alone makes me sick to my stomach; another washed-up A hole trying to flatter his former mob boss.) I wrote a shouty, all-caps headline last year because Navarro—a “trade adviser”—was booked, repeatedly, to discuss pandemic response and epidemiological issues on national TV. Absurd at the time and even more so today. Jose Pagliery is out with a superb distillation of Navarro’s propaganda and related deluded-machinations within MAGA Murder Cult, in which they call each other “brother” and casually describe intent to topple democracy. I’ll link to my Twitter thread once it’s up. Navarro downplayed threat of COVID publicly and privately sent up warning flares which means he shouldn’t have been within 50 yards of a national-TV camera.
