Ossoff calling them "the Epstein class" will illicit no pearl-clutching bc they all know it's the truth bsky.app/profile/card…

Did you feel the nuclear bomb that detonated last night after Midterms 2026?

Georgia is ground zero.

Arguably Texas too. Okay, okay… there are many MANY locations (particularly in the Jim Crow south) that could be considered Ground Zero: South Carolina, where Dr. Annie Andrews won. Or Maine, where Susan Collins was finally vanquished. Or how about Mississippi (yes *that* Mississippi), where Colom is leading some shithole repub by a mere handful of votes?

Midterms 2026 was a spectacular, historic, deafeningly loud repudiation of MAGA cult and its adherents. Definitely celebrate and take time to hug your kids… but understand this is the start of the work, not the end.

Georgia on your mind

What happened in Georgia is nothing short of miraculous. Democrats here ran the table last night, most notably electing the first African-American female governor in American history. For the first time since 1990, per 11Alive news, Dems are projected to sweep every statewide race this term—from Lt. Governor to Labor Commissioner.

Far be it from me to imply one person deserves all the credit for these success stories, but what I will say is this: Senator Jon Ossoff is uniquely talented in naming and shaming the mafioso-Epstein class and finishing in time to go for beers.

Ossoff touched a nerve with fascists because he's just very very good at identifying, roasting and dragging dolts. David Perdue couldn't sit down for a week after the paddling he took in 2020

Achieving progress in Peach State is not just the “inevitability of demographics” (although that’s certainly in play). It is also the result of hard-fought, on-the-ground work from activists of all persuasions, stripes, genders, races and everything else. Jon Ossoff is emblematic of the badassery I see every day in Atlanta and outer-metro area: informed, kind, stoic citizenry fed up with contrived power held by racist charlatans.

In addition to Ossoff, how about lifting a glass to Park Cannon, who calmly but stubbornly objected to the passage of Kemp’s racists SB202 bill, which he signed behind closed doors in front of a slave plantation.

Rep. Park Cannon arrested at Georgia statehouse for calmly defending democracy

We ought to also celebrate Stacey Abrams, who ran an outrageously successful campaign in 2018 for governor only to have victory snatched from her by the same Secretary of State (Kemp) corruptly presiding over his own election.

What comes next

This uproarious victory for decency—and the repudiation of maga cult—demands all gas and no brakes. There will be no sitting out Midterms again. Like, please don’t ever do that. We need participation in pluralistic democracy, evidenced by the result today. Making progress durable for future generations means we keep showing up, over and over, in perpetuity.

For Georgia, though, my prediction below was a bit incomplete: yes, Georgia repubs wanted to pull a North Cackalacky and strip governor-elect Bottoms of her power. but what I didn’t account for was a Brian Kemp with scruples. Per news reports, Kemp rejected demands to call special session to redraw maps and curtail executive power. So I was half correct: those nutty Jim Crow kids wanted their post-Halloween candy but got shafted by their head operative who suddenly grew a spine.

if Keisha Lance Bottoms somehow overcomes voter rateffing here, Georgia repubs will crib mafia ops from North Carolina or Kentucky dingleberries and strip governor seat of as many powers as possiblebookmark it.

The work continues. We are all gas and no brakes from now on. Pass it on. 🔵
